I’ve got a bit a of a situation this weekend. In the area that I live, we don’t get to see many televised Giants games, so when one is scheduled it usually has precedence over anything else going on. Well, this weekend the wife, kid and I have been invited to brunch with her folks. I love her folks. We get along great and usually end our visits with some great home brewed beer and a few laughs.

Unfortunately, this weekend’s brunch invite coincides with the Packers game.

I have two options really.

The first is to stand firm and stay home for the game. The second option is to suck it up, accept not being able to watch the game live and hang out with the family. Both options have drawbacks — one of which will have me sleeping on the basement couch for quite a while. Both also have their benefits: football or free food.

Now, I could just DVR the game and hope that Comcast doesn’t screw me like they have in the past — ending a recording at the end of regulation even though the game goes into overtime or completely pixelating the recording to the point of nonrecognition. I’m not thrilled about the prospect of watching a jumbled recording, but then again I’m not all that siked about living in the basement for an indeterminate length of time.

With regard to recording the game, I’m not sure that missing the game entirely would be worse than suffering through a crappy recording. Then again, I would be able to skip through the horrible local ads and any other events such as a meltdown on defense. I mean, this could be one of those games that I just don’t want to watch, no offense to Jared Lorenzen if he starts. There’s a good possibility that, with as many injuries as we have, the defense may get eaten up by Favre and crew — I’ll certainly want to skip quickly through those instances.

Pixel Town Here We Come

While writing this post, I’ve slowly come to terms with reality. It’s looking like I’ll be recording the game. The aftermath of skipping out on the in-laws is just too painful to imagine. You better not fail me Comcast.

I had intended on initially launching this site prior to the start of the 2007 season, but as with most things, life and work have seemed to conspire against this project and keep me way too damned busy.

About This Site

Essentially this site is where I can spout off about games, roster moves, news and just about anything else team related. If I’ve been a fan for so long why am i just starting this site now? It’s simple really. I’ve finally gotten to a point with my other sites that I feel that I can actually devote quality time to an idea that has been banging around in my skull for a while now.

About The Author

So how did a guy that’s lived a majority of his life living deep in Washington Redskins’ territory become a Giants fan?

My father brainwashed me at an early age. I’ve been watching Giants games and following the team for a majority of my 32 years. Like most any fan, I’ve stuck with the team through Super Bowl success and colossal failure. That’s just the life of a fan, I suppose.

A few of my favorite Giants memories include:

Anything related to Phil Mckonky’s mullet

Ottis Anderson’s windmill uppercut along the sideline

Wide right — thanks Mr Norwood

Carl Banks, Harry Carson and Lawrence Taylor

The 41-0 drubbing of Minnesota in 2000 NFC Championship Game

NYGblog will have myself as the primary author, but you can expect other Giants fans to stop by every now and again to share their own opinions on what’s currently going on during the season. And, well, that’s pretty much it for now.
