Should Belichick Be Fined?
Getty Images/Andy LyonsI was a little crazy when it happened, what with the beer and the winning, but I did notice that Bilichick didn’t stick around for the final snap. I don’t think that I had any feelings toward it, but now that I’ve had time to ponder his behavior, my own opinion has changed. It’s hard not to like the guys, especially with the history he has with the Giants, but his behavior Sunday evening was a bit childish.
I wouldn’t go so far as to say that he should be suspended, but definitely fined and called out by the media as Mike Wilbon has done. I’m not always in agreement with what Wilbon says, but he’s right on the money for the most part here. Check it out.
Losing sucks. I hate losing, as I’m sure the Patriots’ head coach does. But Belichick’s antics definitely sent a horrible message to kids about sportsmanship. I don’t care how much he hurt after such a tough loss, he’s a grown man and a professional. As such, he needs to act like it.
