The Giants Are Going To Give Me An Ulcer The Size Of The Meadow Lands

The way that first quarter was looking, I’m glad that I was still hungover from Saturday night, otherwise I’d have pounded a few brews before halftime. Toying with my liver and a pounding headache, the Giants’ defense played Jekyll and Hyde on us Sunday afternoon.

Here We Go Again

In the first half, both the offense and defense looked sub-par, allowing the Redskins to jump out to a 17-3 halftime lead. There’s not much else you can say about that first half. Plaxico wasn’t holding on the ball, Eli was having his own issues settling down and the defense looked just as it had the first 2 games of the season. We were beat in every statistic possible and it wasn’t looking good.

Who Are These Guys?

I have no idea what happened in the locker room for that 15 minutes during halftime, but man, it worked. The third quarter marked a shift in momentum for the defense, holding the Redskins to just 83 yards in the third and fourth quarters combined. The offense started clicking but still had a few issues with a few dropped passes from Shockey and a couple of interceptions from Eli. Thankfully the team was able to get beyond that and have a shaky 24-17 lead with just over 2 minutes to go in the game.

It wouldn’t be a typical Giants game if the defense doesn’t let up in the end, right?

Well, as with their past formula, the defense gave up some huge 3rd down plays allowing the Redskins to set up camp on the 1 yard line. Thankfully, a combination of the Giants stepping up big time and a young QB’ panic helped Big Blue hold the goal line as Betts fell short with a run to the left. Hangover be damned! I was jumping around like an idiot after that.

It feels great to finally have a win under the belt. Let’s hope this game was a turning point for the defense.

A Quick Thank You

I just wanted to give a quick thanks to Redskins’ center Casey Rabach. Without his two penalties in a row that helped eat up precious time and downs. The Redskins were able to overcome the lost yardage, but you’ve got to imagine that the added pressure didn’t help Jason Campbell any.
